Colossal

In May, Lynette and I went to Tucson and decided to go see Colossal Cave (a dry cave). It smells a little like feet in there, but it was fun. Most of our pictures didn't turn out, but I'm including a couple anyway.

From the inside looking out:I think this was supposed to be a T-Rex:

And, in case anyone wants to know...if Lynette is left alone in the desert with a camera it is very likely the camera will be filled with these kinds of pictures...

The lighting wasn't so good that time of day...

I love Arizona.

Car Night

To follow up our Auto-Mechanic visit we practiced the skills we learned and prepared to teach it to others. So, one evening all ages of our youth group combined and the boys gave presentations about basic car maintenance, how to change a tire, how to jump start a car, driver safety and what to do if you are involved in an accident.

Here are some pictures.

Basic Car Maintenance
Tire Change

Jump Starting a Car

Driving Safety These guys did a funny skit about what to do (or what not to do) if involved in an accident. To bad I didn't video tape it.

A Good Mechanic

It's been said that everyone needs to know a good mechanic. I'm glad I know one--

Ken Johnson has been working on my vehicals for several years, and I'm extremely happy with his work and trust him. I've never had a problem he can't fix and feel like I've never been ripped off. So, if you need a mechanic, I highly recommend Desert Autoworks in Mesa. Tell him Scott sent you.

So, on to the point of this post...way back in April I asked Ken if he'd be willing to talk to our scouts about his job. We focused on AutoMechanics for that month. He was happy and willing to help.

He taught the guys how to change oil, oil and air filters, check fluids and gave them a basic lesson on car maintenance.

It might be a law of nature that:

Camera + teenager(s) + hydraulic lift = a photo like this:

We learned a lot, and I think everyone had fun.

And, my truck got a cheap check up.

It was a perfect activity.

Welcome Back

So, I finally decided that it's time to update my blog.

Thanks to all my sisters, mom and friends who have gently reminded me to update it. I remember one day in particular I had three calls about my blog. They all thought something had gone wrong.

Well, everything is fine. I'm planning on posting a new post everyday for the next week or so to get caught up. I did a lot this summer and took a lot of pictures. I plan to post some picture of each event. There probably won't be much text, but I think the photos will keep it interesting...

Thanks for coming back to my site. The fun starts tomorrow.
