Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative (FURI) -

I'm presenting my research at a Symposium at ASU this Friday. If you are interested please come and see me. Friday, April 20, from 1:00 to 3:00. Its a come and go type thing. You can stay for a little or as long as you want. I attached a map (above) and the marker on the left shows the building (Engineering Center, G Wing [ECG]), we will be meeting on the WEST side of the building. The marker on the right shows where to park (Parking Structure 4 [PS4]). Bring cash, and watch out, ASU parking is expensive.

If, for some reason the visitor parking lot is filled up (or you don't want to pay) you will have to park on 8th Avenue and walk in.

Abstract:

Unanticipated catastrophes, such as terrorist attacks or natural disasters, can have devastating effects on large metropolitan areas. There is a need, therefore, to formulate region-wide emergency response strategies for the Phoenix-Metro area. The purpose of this research is to identify vital links in the valley's transportation network that facilitate the movement of people and goods in a crisis. The analysis is based on the geographical location and traffic patterns related to common human activities over a twenty-four hour period. The results provide a basis to develop extreme event response and evacuation strategies for the Phoenix-Metro area.
